Alhaji Nura Kangiwa, Director-General, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), has emerged the Balafon West Africa Travel and Tourism hospitality man of the year 2023.
The award was presented to Kangiwa during the award session of the ongoing AccraWeizo West Africa Travel and Tourism Market, on Friday, in Accra, Ghana.
Dr Taiwo Famogbiyele, Head of Department, General Studies, Research and Development, NIHOTOUR, represented Kangiwa at the event.
Ikechi Uko, organiser of AccraWeizo, said the award presentation was an annual ceremony to recognise pioneers and best players in the tourism, hospitality and travel industries for the ECOWAS region.
He said Kangiwa waa given the award because of his committment to the promotion of African cuisines and tourism development in Nigeria.
“Alhaji Nura Kangiwa is working tirelessly to promote African cuisines, he is passionate about this and we can see the results. So, he is our hospitality man of the year 2023,” Uko said.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports (NAN) that Adansi Travels won the best tour operator in West Africa while Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra got the best hotel award.
Also, Satguru Travels and Tours emerged the best tourism company in West Africa, The Royal Senchi Resort bagged the best resort in West Africa and Afrochella Ghana won the best tourism event. Mr Kwasi Bamfo, Chief Executive Officer, Alisa Hotel, emerged West Africa tourism personality of the year 2023.
