The National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), has commiserated with Namibians over the death of their President, Hage Geingob.
President Geingob died on Sunday in Namibia after a brief illness, aged 82.
NANTA’s National President, Mrs Susan Akporiaye in a condolence message to the Namibian High Commissioner in Nigeria, Humphery Geiseb, recalled the friendly gesture and determination of the late president to open Namibia to tourism.
Akporiaye in a statement on Sunday, said the kindness of the deceased to NANTA leadership and members, each time they visited Namibia to chart a pan African tourism agenda was unequalled.
She said the association would find a way to honour the late president during its Annual General Meeting in April.
She noted that the late president ensured that offices of the Environment and Tourism ministry headed by Pohamba Shifeta and Heather Sibungo, Minister and Deputy Minister respectively, worked closely with NANTA to open Namibia’s tourism to Nigerians.
“We, at NANTA, have lost a father, a caring pan Africanist and a lover of tourism. We pray for peace for the departed.
“We commiserate with the immediate family of the late president, the Namibian High Commissioner in Nigeria, the Honorable Minister and the deputy in the Namibian Ministry of Environment and Tourism. “We also commiserate with the entire good hospitable people of Namibia,” she said
