Mefa Abuja Venue Ltd., a leading force in Africa’s performance venue sector, partners with the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), to develop Nigeria’s first-ever comprehensive network of performance venues.
This pioneering initiative aims to revolutionise Nigeria’s entertainment industry by offering world-class performance spaces and fostering a sustainable income stream for artistes.
Mr Obi Asika, Director-General of NCAC, in a statement in Lagos, on Monday said the collaboration was set to transform nation’s entertainment industry.
Asika said this would be done by introducing top-tier facilities and a structured environment for performers across multiple cities, including Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Enugu, and Ibadan.
“Today is a historical day for the council as we sign this MOU to deliver 6 venues across Nigeria, kicking off with Abuja and Lagos.
“This will provide world class spaces that are multi-functional and that deliver live entertainment and sports to enable capacity building.
“We are delighted to partner with Mefa and look forward to bringing these facilities live to provide more opportunities for all Nigerians,” he said.
Earlier, Mr Yinka Obebe, Co-founder of Mefa Abuja said the company stands out with its commitment to curating at least one concert every week throughout the year, starting from its launch.
According to him, this would ensure continuous stream of live performances that will engage audiences and provide artistes with consistent opportunities to showcase their talents.
“Mefa’s incubation programme is dedicated to developing emerging artists, turning recording artists into skilled live performers.
“This initiative will equip artistes across the nation to maximise the benefits of their live performance careers.
“With Nigeria’s music market projected to grow from $4.40 million in 2022 to $8.03 million by 2027, Mefa’s initiative is poised to capitalise on this growth, fostering a vibrant performance culture across the nation.
“Our partnership with the National Council for Arts and Culture marks a significant milestone in our mission to revolutionise Nigeria’s entertainment landscape.
“By establishing these venues and curating regular performances, we are not only creating a platform for artistes to thrive but also contributing to the sustainable growth of the industry,” he said.
