Aduvie International School, Abuja, has staged a play titled “Igenfina”, to advocate girl-child education and gender equality, while celebrating the creative potential of Nigerian youth.

Mr Olufemi Folaponmile, Head of the school, in a statement on Thursday said the production, staged recently at the school premises, featured over 150 pupils and students from the primary and secondary sections.

Folaponmile said the production aligned with the institution’s mission to nurture creativity and social awareness among its students.

“Igenfina is more than a play; it is a platform to amplify voices, challenge cultural biases, and promote inclusive education.

“Through drama, we teach our children the importance of courage, education, unity, and the power of storytelling to change the society.”

Igenfina tells the compelling story of a young girl’s fight for freedom and justice in a war-torn African kingdom.

The play explores themes of resilience, rebellion, and survival, while serving as a call to action for the empowerment of the girl-child.

“The performance, which incorporated rich choreography, traditional costumes, and poetic narration, transported the audience into a vibrant African setting.

“The play underscored the importance of arts education and its role in shaping socially conscious youth.

“It also highlighted the need for more platforms that promote youth-led initiatives with strong social messages.

“By advocating girl-child rights through drama, Igenfina demonstrated the power of creative expression to inspire change and spark conversations on equity and inclusion in Nigerian society.”
